You say Tanasi, I say Tennessee

Since the European explores and settlers spelled Cherokee words based on how they sounded when spoken, it was common to have multiple spellings for a single word. The word "Tennessee" is a variation of the spelling of the Cherokee word "Tanasi" (also spelled Tannassy, Tanassee, Tenase), the name of a famous Cherokee village located on the banks of the Little Tennessee River near present- day Vonore,Tennessee.

A Mystery to Me

AMENDMENT 2 "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." AMENDMENT 10 "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the States respectively,or to the people." Why is it so hard for liberals to understand these two admendments?

Natures Truth

Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fasted Lion or be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter if you are a Lion or a Gazelle. When the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

DOES GOD EXIST?

Guess who said: "To suppose that the eye, with all its inmitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree...The belief that an organ as perfect as the eye could haved formed by natural selection is more than enough to stagger anyone." Charles Darwin (Shute,E., Flaws in the Theory of Evolution, Craig Press, Nutley, N.J., 1961, pp, 127-128. Even Darwin recognized that an organ as intricate and magnificent as the eye required a Creator. Sir Isaac Newton said,"This most elegant system of suns and planets can only arise from the purpose of an intelligent and mighty Being." "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handy work." Psalm 19:1. Albert Einstein declared, "The harmony of natural law reveals an intelligence of such superiorty that compared with it, all the systematic thinking of human beings is utterly insignificant."

Today's Lesson on Irony

1.We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And another statement for consideration. 2.We constantly hear about how social security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Finally 3.The food stamp program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever...to 47 million people, as of the most recent figures available in 2013. Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, ask us "Please Do Not Feed The Animals." The stated reason for this policy is because "The Animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves." This ends Today's lesson on Irony. I

Solving Life's Problems

Don't worry about anything;instead pray about everything;tell God your needs and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

The Only Way To Live

Because The Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need. He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He restores my failing health. He helps me do what honors him the most. Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way. You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemines. You have welcomed me as your guest, blessings overflow! Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home. Psalms 23:1-6.
